Saturday we ventured to a local park in Vinhedo. This park constantly has different festivals and we had never been to one. Greg and the boys had never had true Churros before and were interested.
Entrance to the festival was free if you donated food (typically rice and beans we were told). The beginning of the line had a lot of food and beer trucks. Once you walked past those, there were vendors with clothing, jewelry, spices, etc. Past that, a massive amount of Churro trucks and games for the kids.
After letting the boys play for a bit, we decided to pick out the Churros we would like to try.
Deciding was difficult. Not only did we have to pick the truck, but then we had to pick the kind! To make life easier, we went for a truck that had pictures - so we could point!! :)
Zane chose coconut, Alden Oreo, and we got a traditional one with crispy cookies on top. All were filled with chocolate and topped with chocolate. Greg and I were supposed to share one, but he got up to order and his eyes were bigger than his stomach. I knew the boys would have a hard time eating all of that and there was no way I could eat one myself! He didn't listen.
After enjoying our churros, we went for a walk around the park. The boys were fascinated by the very tall cacti.
We walked to the top of the hill and realized how high we were. Easy to forget in a place like this. This is looking down over part of the city of Vinhedo. Off in the distance would be Greg's office building.
This beer truck was one that was at a festival in our condo before the boys and I arrived. Greg was overjoyed to see it because they have 'good' beer. Lots of non-traditional beers for Brasil, but tasted more like home!
And in a few weeks..BEERFEST! Who is coming to join us!?!
This picture reminds me of all the memes and posts lately about limiting technology with children and letting them use their imaginations. Alden realized we were on a hill and decided to see what would happen if he were to lay down his water bottle. It went from a roll of about a foot to climbing and trying a bunch of different things to see what would happen. I am sure he could have done this for hours! Zane even joined in.
As we were walking back to the car, we found these seeds laying under this palm tree. They look like big kernels of corn. We found this so funny!!
