This week, I found out that the CarePages website that hosted all Alden's updates when he was born has shut down. I was so sad because I had not saved those! I was able to email them and request a PDF copy. As I read through them, I cried. I cried a lot. But not at what we had gone through. I cried because my baby boy overcame each obstacle that was thrown at him, beat every odd and is now a 6 year old living a 'normal' life.
Alden was pretty excited to have not one, not two, but three birthday celebrations this year. He would tell everyone that he could. One birthday in Kansas, one in Brasil and one on the plane!
For his Kansas birthday, he requested jumping time at Sky Zone and dinner at Chick-fil-a. We were joined by family and friends for fun at Sky Zone!
Presents revolved mostly around 'Paw Patrol' his latest obsession. He was ecstatic at each of the gifts that he opened. And while they caused some serious difficulties when packing (major puzzle skills involved) they all made it to Brasil and have been played with over and over and over!
After our delicious Chick-fil-a dinner, we returned to Mamaw and Papaw's for cake!
On the 19th, we boarded the plane to head back to daddy. He was 5 years old when he got on the plane in Kansas.
Daddy greeted the boys with a special sign.
He woke up in Brasil as a 6 year old. We had the long drive back to the house.
But when we arrived, they were eager to shed their clothes and jump in the pool. Alden, having a January birthday, has not had this opportunity before! He was very excited. They even used their new floaties!
We spent the evening together, ate a cake daddy had purchased (Goiaba!) and watched a movie. Overall, a wonderful birthday! Still can't believe he is 6!! My mom always said, the older you get, the faster time seems to go.
Guess what, Amber, I talked to your Dad today, and he sounded sooo good!! I am delighted about the good news he shared regarding his prognosis. Yay PRAYERS!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to get the pics of Alden that you thought were lost. Just one more blessing. ❤
Thanks! He was super excited to talk to you, and your siblings! Thank you for supporting him!
