This year marks the 30th anniversary of Sant'Anna. International School. The owner and her family, the teachers, the students, and the families all came together for an amazing celebration.
The school is celebrating all year long, but on Saturday, February 24th we celebrated together. It started with a walk around the city. It was about a two mile walk through the city, the sun was shining and there was not a cloud in the sky! We were all sweaty and hot when we returned to the school.
We had to be at school a little earlier than everyone else because I was with the staff. The boys used this time to talk to teachers and play with friends.
The walk was led by a band on a truck playing fun and energetic music.
The teachers formed a wall on each side of the street, protecting students and families. The police blocked off streets and the school security helped guide and keep everyone safe.
The plan was for this special, and I am sure expensive, hot air balloon to follow the walkers around the city. But, the wind (which we could not feel!) was apparently too strong and the balloon was not able to get off the ground.
I forget that we are in the mountains until we have to walk up some of the 'hills'!
After the walk, we all gathered in one of the gyms for a special concert by Familia Lima. They were brothers that took classical music and made it rock! The boys enjoyed the concernt so much as the were able to recognize most of the music.
The multi-talented brothers came into the audience to play. The crowd went crazy. They were amazing. Changing instruments often, switching from singing to playing. Very talented group!
At the end, we were all tired and ready to go home and relax...and it was only noon!!
