A Saturday trip took us to about an hour west to the town of Piracicaba. We had heard good things about the zoo. While it was small, it was free and had a wonderful park for the boys to play and run off some energy.
This guy! Not Greg, but the guy behind us. He was so high, smoking while he was there (feel free to zoom in) and talking to all the animals. He was trying really hard to get this monkey to smoke with him. Entertainment for all those around!
The park had a castle!
This town was founded due to the location of the Piracicaba River. Another place that is famous for its sugar cane plantations, the city built up relatively fast. We went to the old factory district that has been turned into a fun city market, movie theater, and more.
To get there, you walk across this bridge over the Piracicaba River.
After, we walked up the hill to the Museu de Agua and learned all about the process of moving water through the city.
The museum had a couple aquariums showcasing local fish.
After, we went to the Parque do Rua do Porto to enjoy lunch on the river. There were so many different birds in this area!
A short drive to the other side of the river took us to the Aquario Municipal de Pricacicaba. While it was a small aquarium, it was also free and very new!
Another beautiful city full of a rich history!
