Visitors- Delayed Post - Ashlyn

It has been a while, I know. I am sorry. Things have been hectic in the family and this has not been a priority!

Since our last post we have been blessed with some visitors!

First, in June, Ashlyn came to visit for a few weeks. For those that do not know, Ashlyn is a former students that I taught when she was in 1st and 2nd grade. Her family and I clicked and we have remained friends, so much that the boys consider them family. Ashlyn is now in college (yes, I feel old) and traveled all the way here on her own. This was her second adventure on an airplane and her first out of the country. We did our best to show her around!

She spent some time at school with me and at Greg's work.

The first weekend she was here was Festa Junina at school and in our condominium.

She was able to meet some of the boys friends and even showed of her soccer skills.

Zane and Alden were so excited to spend time with her!

New food to try: Tapioca

That evening was the Festa at our Condominium. She learned all about purchasing the 'fake' money to buy food and drinks.

The boys had a blast playing with her! I think she did too!

Typical Ashlyn...get in the car and fall asleep.

We took her to our friends Horse Farm and went on a 2 hour hike in the mountains. Notice the stain on her back. This photo was taken right after she slid down the mountain!

We attended the Middle School Musical at my school: Teen Beach Movie! My children listen to the songs every day.

She went to an Italian restaurant with the Expat group and she met people from all over the world. It was Brazilian Valentine's Day and she received some chocolate.

This girl LOVE to shop!!

Our fun trip was she was here was to the city of Paraty. We rented a house right on the water and were so impressed! This is the house with the hammock in which Alden broke his collar bone!

The beach right outside our door was crawling with hermit crabs!

We scheduled a boat tour. The captain even barbecued for us!

The landscape was incredible. Each area we stopped had more and more plants, animals and obstacles to explore.

Feeding the fish.

Finding an empty crab exoskeleton, paddle boarding, finding beautiful seashells, and exploring beach after beach, area after area. Not a bad way to spend the day!

This particular spot was full of live and dead sand dollars. Ashlyn did some snorkel diving to take home a fun and beautiful memento! She was not happy when she came up with the first on and I told her it was live!

This girl can sleep anywhere - fell asleep taking photos!

May not be siblings by blood, but definitely siblings by heart!

Breakfast at the marina!

Downtown Paraty is famous for its old buildings and shopping.

When we drove there, it was dark. We took full advantage of the drive home and all the picturesque spots!

We stopped at the lavender fields in Cunha. The view, the smell, the experience: unforgettable!

We stopped at a restaurant for lunch where G captured these moments! Love it!

Of course, Chewie was SPOILED the whole time she was here.

The best moment while she was here? Celebrating her 19th birthday!!! We took her to one of our favorite churrascarias and we ate, laughed, and enjoyed spoiling this special person.

It was sad to see her go and the boys enjoyed the time she spent with us so much!! But, she was off for another adventure shortly after returning home!
