In June, we flew home the same day as Ashlyn and spent a few weeks with the family! We traveled to Mexico during this time and this is where dad started to really show signs of not feeling well.
We returned to Brasil on a Friday, and the Wiseman Family headed our way on the following Monday. They had an overnight in Florida and then boarded the plane to fly to Brazil on Tuesday. This was the day dad was rushed into emergency surgery and diagnosed.
My heart was breaking already, but I was in so much pain for my family that was on the plane completely unaware of what was happening.
We arrived at the airport early, due to traffic and spent a long time waiting for the plane and honestly, I spend a long time crying in the bathroom away from the boys.
Waiting for them to arrive!
We stopped at a restaurant on the way home. It was delicious. While Rylie, Zane and Alden were running and climbing in the children's area, Dylan stayed to offer emotional support during this time.
When we arrived, they were eager to set up a fort area for a slumber party!
Ashley and I spend a lot of time on video chat with the family.
We took them to explore some of the local parks. While the oldest may not love the camera, the memories are priceless!
Trying Brazilian BBQ. I was really impressed with Dylan and Rylie trying some of the new meats!
And we were off! Traveling to an island off the coast of São Paulo called Ilhabela, which translates into "Beautiful Island". To get there, we had to load our cars onto a ferry. A fun experience for all!
We arrived at our AirBnB and were not disappointed! While the layout was interesting, the space was amazing. There were two buildings; a guest house and the main house. The guest house was on the same level as where you parked the car. This had two twin beds a full bed and a full bathroom. The main house was down a large amount of stairs. On this level were the pool and the BBQ area as well. The door to the house opened into the living room, dining room and kitchen. The other three bedrooms, all will full bathrooms and walk-out balconies, were on the lower floor.
Our first dinner on the island and my healthy monkey orders a salad. I cannot express the joy he expressed when this was brought out to him!
Exploring the beach outside the restaurant.
These two explorers were inseparable.
This beauty is beyond talented and puts her heart and soul into everything she does!
Feet and names memory
While the kiddos explored, splashed and played. The adults enjoyed each other's company and some adult beverages.
Ashley showing she still has it!
There were the most intrinsic sculptures in this area!
Remember when I said there were three beds in this guest house??? Yes, this is how we found them in the morning! All three in one bed!
We took an excursion through the forest to the other side of the island and then took a boat ride back!
When we arrived on the other side of the island, we were on the praia de castelhanos (beach of little castels). We were warned about the bugs on this beach and loaded up on the repellent. No one was bit...this day!
After a few hours of playing, we boarded the boat for our tour around the island and exploration of some other areas.
Sometimes...just sometimes...our husbands are dorks, but it turns out a little cute.
Back at the house, showered and changed for dinner, a call to the family was in order!
Fun dinner downtown.
The next day, the boys were a little adventurous and spent some time out on a kayak.
Rylie did some paddle boarding.
Returning back to reality is always hard. The Wiseman Family returned home much too soon.
The boys were very spoiled this 'summer' with all their family time. It has been very difficult these past few months being so far away. There are so many times we have almost hopped on a plane, only to be told no. We are counting down the days until December!
