Our unexpected trip home gave us the opportunity to participate in American Halloween! While some condos celebrate it here, it is not a holiday celebrated by all. They do not have pumpkins for carving (they have them for eating and they are delicious!!) or all the costumes and decorations, but some people here say that it is picking up in popularity!
Our first stop took us to Weston Red Barn Farm in search of some pumpkins. We were worried because it was so close to the holiday.
The boys and I struggled with the drastic weather change. While we came prepared, the boys had to bust out hats and gloves after enjoying their flavored honey sticks.
A quick 'straw' ride to the pumpkin patch made for some happy kiddos.
Trying to get a picture of Dylan and caught this cute picture of Josh and Ashley!
The pumpkin patch was full of pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes.
Alden fell in love with every pumpkin he came in contact with! He wanted them all!
Alden picked up this pumpkin and could not stop laughing!
After finding just the right pumpkins, we loaded pack up on the wagon and rode back to pay, drink some cider, look at some animals and enjoy the scenery.
A few days later, we had the privilege of having Papaw help us carve the pumpkins. The boys each drew their designs and cleaned out their pumpkins.
Papaw used his tools to cut out the boy's creations and the boys cleaned up the pumpkins after. Alden created a vampire.
Zane's pumpkin was very large and had a very thick rind. Papaw had to get creative cutting it out. This year, Z created an emoji pumpkin.
The boys and Rylie went trick-or-treating with a friend of Rylie's. Dylan opted to stay home and pass out candy. The boys picked the costumes out last minute and while Zane is an avid Star Wars fan I do not think Alden has ever watched the show with Pikachu!
Our last stop of the night was to visit Grandpa Frank. He was excited to see the boys. The boys saw that he had a photograph with them from a previous Halloween on his fridge. They said it was too old and he needed a new one.
Even though it was cold, and we didn't stay out long, they ended up with a lot of candy! Even more exciting, it all made it through customs! Wonder how long it will last?!?!?!
