Shadow of a...

Drew you in there didn't I?!

Today was yet another day of waiting patiently for our stuff to arrive. Don't want to jinx it, but we have heard some good news! Hopefully we will be updating on this soon!

So, we are still home with no toys, no bikes, no car, no TVs, no anything. It is getting harder and harder to think of things to do and we are getting a little more irritable with each other. While we try to take Chewie for a walk each day, the boys are not as interested in a walk around the neighborhood as they were a few weeks ago. How do we spice things up??? Today, tablets in hand, we set off on a walk with a mission. You must find and take pictures of interesting shadows!

We were about 7 minutes into the walk when I looked down at Alden and realized he was in his SLIPPERS! Oh geez!!!

We were not going to head back as we needed to be out of the house at this time, so we ventured on, slippers and all.

Now, I have to give a shout-out to Google Photos' recent update. This family sharing has made it INCREDIBLY easy to get the pictures I need to the blog without hours of work (thinking back to when Alden was born and I was trying to get pictures from Greg's phone to my computer!). I taught the boys the couple buttons to push on their tablets and then they were able to give Daddy a slide show from the laptop. They were pleased with how easy it was!

They each took about 20-30 photos. They have picked their top 5 to put in this blog post.

So here is the challenge the are giving you! The boys want to see if you can guess what their shadows are! Pictures are labeled with the boy's name and a number. Give it a shot and leave a comment for the boys! (As much as I wanted to, there is no editing or cropping on their photos!!) I will help the boys reply to comments to help practice writing/spelling/communication skills.

  1. Cool activity! My guesses: Zane 1 = A sign, Zane 2 = A eucalyptus plant, Zane 3 = A basket and your dog, Zane 4 = A light pole, Zane 5 = An ant or spider?, Alden 1 = A bug, Alden 2 = himself- the photographer, Alden 3 = A ball, [also see the triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon and hexagon in this pic :)] Alden 4 = A palm tree, Alden 5 = A plant of some kind. I LOVE this post! I'd love to see some pictures of numbers or other geometrical shapes you find:) Ann Decker
